Publisher’s Description: Southern Humanities Review is the literary quarterly published from the Department of English at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. Founded in 1967, SHR publishes fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction. The recently established Auburn Witness Poetry Prize Honoring Jake Adam York is held each summer. The winner receives $1,000, and runners-up receive $100 apiece. The Theodore Christian Hoepfner Awards are given annually to an essay, story, and poem published in that year. Each winner receives $100.
Work published in Southern Humanities Review is considered for Best American Essays, Best American Poetry, Best American Short Stories, New Stories from the South, Prize Stories: O. Henry Awards, and the Pushcart Prize. SHR is a member of the Community of Literary Magazines and Presses (CLMP).
